When We Make It In America, Our Middle Class Will Make It, Too.

Just as President Obama said in his State of the Union address, the United States needs to be able “out-innovate, out-educate, and out-build the rest of the world.” Congressman Dingell joins with the President in his call to revive American manufacturing. Doing so will promote economic recovery and create a solid foundation for future growth that will benefit our children and grandchildren.

American manufacturing is recovering and will thrive again. To support that recovery, Congressman Dingell supports initiatives that prioritize education and research, technical training, and investment, all of which create an atmosphere in which innovation and ingenuity flourish. Similarly, these initiatives will result in job creation and sustainable economic growth. Manufacturing is a critical sector in our recovery, and we can ‘Make It In America’ by promoting growth in this sector in order to create well-paying middle class jobs, particularly in Michigan’s 15th district.

To support that recovery, Congressman Dingell wants to help local manufacturers continue to compete in the global economy and help the middle class succeed by supporting the Democrats’ “Make It In America” agenda. Since the initiative’s launch, Dingell has joined his colleagues to pass a number of bills that encourage manufacturers to innovate, grow, keep, and create good jobs in the United States. The following bills have become law:

U.S. Manufacturing Enhancement Act: Makes it cheaper for American companies to obtain the materials they need to manufacture goods.
Small Business Jobs Act: Expands much needed lending to millions of small businesses and offers tax incentives to help small businesses grow, hire, and fuel our economy, without adding a dime to the deficit.
Energy Jobs and Training for Veterans Act: Provides grants for programs to provide on-the-job training, apprenticeship, real experience, and long-term employment in all energy fields.
COMPETES Act: Establishes innovative technology federal loan guarantees for small- and medium-sized manufacturers and invests in science, technology, engineering, and math education.

Congressman Dingell is committed to ensuring our children and grandchildren receive the education they need to compete in a global marketplace in the 21st century by supporting policies that foster research, education, and manufacturing. He has been a steadfast defender of manufacturing jobs in Michigan for his entire career. He continues to fight in the 112th Congress to ensure that American manufacturers not only just make it in America, but also have the capacity to flourish and grow in the future.
